Farnsworth House The Farnsworth House Inn, owned by the Sweney family during the Battle of Gettysburg, resonates with the history of the battle that raged around it. The attic was overtaken by Confederate snipers and its southern wall still bears silent witness to the Union's attempts to silence their attackers with over 100 bullet holes. It is believed that the fatal shot that killed Jennie Wade came from the attic window. The Farnsworth House, named after General Elon J. Farnsworth who died in the Battle, is one of the most haunted inns in America. Today, the house is reported to have no fewer than 14 spirits in the house, including confederate soldiers, a midwife, a caring nursemaid, Jennie Wade looking to forgive the soldier who shot her, a young boy mortally wounded in front of the house and his grieving father who walks the halls. The origins of ghost storytelling in Gettysburg, the Farnsworth House presents stories by candlight in the cellar as well as walks that include entering the house and attic. Seen on A&E, "The Unexplained", History Channel and Sci-Fi Channel.. Documented to be the 7th most Haunted Inn in America $200 deposit per room (for two people) needed ASAP to reserve your space.
